  • Sweet Summer Wedding

Jake and Danielle hail from other parts of the country, but decided to marry in Vancouver as it was a central meeting place where family and friends could all gather together.  They also decided on photos before the ceremony which gave us lots of time to relax and capture Jake’s large family (7 siblings, although 1 was missing) and have time for just the bride and groom.  With both their families spread across North America it was a reunion of loved ones and a celebration of family.

Jake and Danielle decided to start their gorgeous day with a first look so while she was finishing getting ready the boys and I headed to the lobby of the hotel to take a few photos.  Once Dani was ready she sneakily descended the staircase.

We spent the next two hours at the Italian Gardens at the PNE.  We had workers all around us setting up for the fair, but the garden itself was quiet which was perfect for what we had in mind.

The stone work at the Italian Gardens is stunning and I love playing amidst the faces that adorn the walkways and water fountains.  It is a little hidden oasis and on this hot day I did not mind crossing back and forth across the water and getting my feet a bit wet.

Jake and Danielle followed the photos with a small ceremony at the Italian Cultural Centre.

I wish them the best on their new life together.  It is a bit bitter sweet though as within a week of their wedding tragedy struck when a fatal car accident claimed the lives of three of his family members.  Their wedding brought their families together from far and wide and they celebrated with such joy.  I hope it helps carry them through this time of mourning.
