  • Ladybug Birthday Celebration

    Ladybug princess

What better way to celebrate the actual appearance of spring on the westcoast than with a backyard ladybug themed birthday party.  My littlest one turned the big 4 and I had a great time decorated and crafting to make her day special.  My husband I created ladybug and bumblebee crowns for our daughters and many handmade elements besides.

I ordered a beautiful handmade pinata from a friend at Beansprouts and I highly recommend calling over if you would like the contact info to order one yourself.

The decorations my kids and I made with help from my friends and we had over 30 ladybugs hanging from the trees.  These lovely creatures were made simply from egg cartons.

The yard was enchanted as colours and little creatures filled all corners.

The cakes were made by my dear friends Frances and Dickson from Sweet Naturally Bakery.  I know I can come completely trust their cakes as they make all their baked goods from locally sourced and organic ingredients, (although I did ask specially for the raspberries which are not yet in season here).

My daughter saw a very similar cake when I exhibited at EP!C with Sweet Naturally as my neighbour and they created a very beautiful chocolate cake with passionfruit icing (my husband’s family roots are from New Zealand and Australia) which was not too sweet and perfect for the kids.

And then to the pinata crashing which held up very well to the beatings it received and was filled with a mixture of healthy ( raisins and fruit rollups) and sweet treats ( chocolate and lollipops).

    A very fine birthday indeed!
